What is the “White Diet” after whitening?
The "white diet" is a simple guide to eating and drinking only light-coloured foods for 48 to 72 hours post-treatment.
During this window, your enamel is more porous and susceptible to staining. We recommend sticking to foods like white rice, pasta, chicken, fish, and potatoes, while avoiding dark liquids like coffee, tea, and red wine to lock in your brightest results.
What can I eat and drink after whitening?
We recommend waiting at least 2 to 3 hours before eating your first meal to let the treatment fully settle.
When you are ready to eat, stick to "safe" options like white rice, pasta, chicken, fish, or potatoes. For drinking, plenty of plain water is perfect—in fact, it helps keep your enamel hydrated. Try to avoid extremely hot or cold temperatures for the first few hours to ensure maximum comfort.
These foods are less likely to stain and help keep your results fresh and even.
What should I avoid after whitening?
For the first 72 hours, avoid any "staining agents" that could discolour your fresh new shade.
This includes dark liquids like coffee, tea, red wine, and colourful juices, as well as highly pigmented foods like beetroot, berries, soy sauce, and chocolate. We also recommend avoiding smoking and acidic foods like lemons or oranges, as your enamel is more sensitive to acidity and staining during this time.
Why is it important to avoid certain foods and drinks?
During the whitening process, your enamel pores are temporarily opened, making your teeth much more susceptible to staining.
Think of your teeth like a sponge immediately after treatment; they will easily absorb the pigments from what you consume. By following our aftercare advice for the first 72 hours, you allow your enamel to re-mineralise and "lock in" your new shade, ensuring your bright results last as long as possible.
