What is the “White Diet” after whitening?

After your whitening treatment, your teeth are more porous for the next 2–3 days, meaning they can absorb stains more easily.

The “White Diet” simply means choosing light-coloured foods and
drinks during this time to protect your new brightness and help your
results last longer.

It’s not restrictive — just a short period of care to lock in your best glow.

What can I eat and drink after whitening?

Stick to foods and drinks that are light in colour and gentle on your enamel.

Some great options include:

  • Water, milk, coconut water, and clear spirits like gin or vodka (in moderation)
  • Plain rice, pasta, chicken, fish, and eggs
  • White sauces, yoghurt, and cheese
  • Light fruits like banana or pear

These foods are less likely to stain and help keep your results fresh and even.

What should I avoid after whitening?

For the first 2–3 days, avoid anything dark, acidic, or likely to stain your teeth — including:

  • Coffee, tea, red wine, soft drinks, and coloured juices
  • Soy sauce, tomato-based sauces, and curry
  • Dark fruits like berries
  • Smoking or vaping

These can re-stain your enamel while it’s still settling after
treatment. Staying mindful during this short window helps your results
stay brighter, longer.

Why is it important to avoid certain foods and drinks?

Right after whitening, the surface of your teeth is slightly more open and receptive — a bit like a sponge.

Dark or acidic foods and drinks can quickly re-enter those pores, leading to uneven or reduced results.

Following the White Diet gives your enamel time to re-mineralise and seal, locking in that bright, even finish.
